Suggestion of Bankruptcy

Contrary to what the term sounds like a Suggestion of Bankruptcy or "SOB", as fondly referred to by bankruptcy lawyers, is far more than a mere suggestion - it's a notice to creditors that their civil claim against you is now dead in the water.  When a bankruptcy case is formally filed with the bankruptcy court resulting in the issuance of a bankruptcy case number, we will file an SOB in any pending civil lawsuits against you terminating all activity in that case. The SOB is one of the most effective tools in the bankruptcy lawyer's toolbox and is a death knell to most civil lawsuits against a client with a few minor exceptions such as matters pertaining to family law obligations, tax collection, and eviction proceedings.
